Project overview

Queensland Rail is upgrading Rockhampton station to deliver improved customer experience, safety and accessibility for customers travelling on our network. Rockhampton station is a key regional hub, with around 45,000 customer journeys made each year. Upgrades to this station will assist Queensland Rail in continuing to deliver critical connections to our regional customers.

In 2023, early consultation was completed with key stakeholders and the Rockhampton community. Feedback received during the early consultation process has been incorporated in the designs.

Key features of this upgrade:

  • customer lounge and breakout areas with device charging stations
  • travel centre and luggage check-in integration
  • improved customer parking, including accessible parking
  • improved customer amenities
  • customer information display screens and station signage
  • improved customer seating
  • new emergency help phones, lighting and CCTV cameras
  • upgraded accessibility features such as Hearing Augmentation loops, handrails, wayfinding and Tactile Ground Surface Indicators (TGSI).
